Intermedia is working to improve access to media policy resources in Pakistan through an online Media Resource Center that provides leadership and guidance on media policy issues to stakeholders in Pakistani media, including research and updates on media developments.
A physical resource center based at Intermedia office in Islamabad is also providing physical resources for journalists, media outlets, researchers, educational institutions, media regulators and legislators. The center has computers and Internet access, reading materials and case studies.
The online Media Resource Center , to be launched shortly, will archive and disseminate media materials relating to Pakistan and perform the following functions:
Provide active links for media stakeholders across Pakistan and abroad, allowing access to advice and expertise on legal issues, articles and reference materials
Provides information on media defense issues such as ongoing monitoring of the state of media in Pakistan, updates on violations against the media; track progress on media-related court cases and legislation;
Provide updated directories of Pakistani media such as TV channels, radio stations, newspapers and magazines, journalists and media organizations such as journalists unions, press clubs, media associations, journalism schools, etc.
Funding for the online resource center is provided by Internews Network, an international media development organization, under one of their projects being implemented in Pakistan and funded by Democracy, Human Rights and Labor of US State Department.
