PPP slams govt for persecution of Waqt TV reporting team
The Pakistan Peoples Party has condemned the illegal detention of Waqt TV reporters in the Parliament Lodges the other day when they were covering the condemnable arrest of PML-N acting President Makhdoom Javed Hashmi in Islamabad. “As the regime braces for a massive crackdown on the opposition leaders and workers in the run up to the Presidential elections, freedom of the media has turned out to be the biggest casualty of the regime’s blind ambition to crush all dissent with force”, said Sherry Rehman, Central Information Secretary Pakistan Peoples in a press statement on Monday. She noted that this was the second instance of state sponsored violence against the media in a matter of a week. Early last week, she added, an intelligence agency men kidnapped, detained, and harassed a TV reporter for his report on the suicide attack on the Army mess in Tarbella.

Letter to editor “freedom of press”
Javed Jabbar comments, “It is also necessary to place this on record because it has become customary, as in the case of the Dawn editorial, to ascribe credit to journalists alone for the struggle against the law and its eventual repeal. This is unfair. Parts of civil society, members of parliament and even some members of governments (working within the constraint of government discipline) often struggled for the same cause. The eventual repeal was the culmination of a combined and collective effort, certainly spearheaded by journalists.”

FM Listening | The trial of an RJ by Sehrish Wasif
There are many voices on radio that have previously and are even at present inspiring people to become a part of this medium. Whereas on the other hand there are some voices that had have induced people to fall into the so-called "FM trance" and become in essence what people call as FM addicts. I have had the distinction of being one of such FM bugs and the voice that really coerced me to start listening to FM was that of Faheem Khan. No wonder this guy has one of the sweetest and most calming voices on the radio, a voice that forces people to turn around, take notice and fall into the trance or the sedation of his voice. And I recently had the good fortune of having him on the hot seat and having the opportunity to shoot questions that I had in my mind since the first day that I heard him on air waves.
