PPP condemns harassment of TV reporter
The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Thursday expressed concern over the harassment of DawnNews reporter Babar Hussain and demanded arrest of those involved in it. Hussain was reportedly picked up and interrogated by an intelligence agency early this week following his report on the recent suicide attack on SSG commandos in Tarbela. “The PPP condemns the inhuman treatment meted out to Babar Hussain by the intelligence agency men who kidnapped and intimidated him in broad daylight outside his house in Rawalpindi,” said Sherry Rehman, the party’s information secretary, in a statement.

FM Listening | What’s new on FM channels? By Sehrish Wasif
We are always eager to know something new. In public language it is called gossip which adds spice to life. RJ of Power 99 Faisal Javed Rana tried to join FM 101 but was rejected for his immaturity. Late Kahsif Khan the legendary RJ of FM 101 and Ahmed Bilal were fired from FM 100 Pakistan on the same ground. RJ Mehvish of FM 100 Pakistan was sacked because her tone resembled to a female RJ's voice. City FM 89 keeps on entertaining people even on Shab-e-Qadar and Sehr and Iftar time. The new change in the channel is RJ called Khalid doing Breakfast show on Fridays and Saturdays. No one dares disclose about Ayeasha Alam's sudden disappearance. Now Ayeasha Raja Alam, having similar voice and presentation style has replaced her.

NAG holds no attraction for children
Although the National Art Gallery (NAG) has grabbed the attention of many visitors, it lacks attraction for children. The Youth and Children Section, which is located on the second floor of the building was approved in its PC1, has been converted to a storage room for unknown reasons. A source told Daily Times that the closure of this section was because of internal politics at the gallery. He said, “Director Pakistan National Council for Arts (PNCA) Naeem Tahir had paintings from other galleries shifted to this section due to seepage of water.” It appears that the section has now been turned into the Sadeqain storage area despite plentiful storage space in the basement of the gallery.

KDA library turns to junkyard
A more than 20 year old library of the now-defunct Karachi Development Authority (KDA), containing rare books and survey maps of Karachi, has been closed down and it now wears the look of a junkyard. The library located on the second floor of Civic Center was full of rare charts, maps, drawings, survey reports and master plan reports, but these rare manuscripts are now covered w ith thick layers of dust. During a visit to the place this scribe found that all the library books, magazines, rare photographs and old pictures of Karachi have been abandoned just like trash under darkness. One of the employees present at the library, said: “We are making a digital library”. On a query, he said: “As you know it is a practice in Pakistan that all old things are taken as scrap and these books are now just a trash”. He, however, added that they were in the process of making a digital library. It is worth mentioning that if at all the proposed digital library is established, it will not be having any kind of old record and rare manuscripts. The rare pictures of old city were about camel riders, “buggies” and trams, which would no more be available in the digital library. It is worth mentioning that a large number of students from NED and Sir Syed engineering universities had benefited from this library. This historic library had been containing a record of various development schemes as the now-defunct KDA had launched various low-cost housing schemes in the city.
