  Cops suspended for maltreating journalists
  Islamabad Capital Territory administration has suspended two police officials for maltreating journalists during a protest staged on Friday near marriott Hotel in the Federal Capital. DSP Khalid Rasheed and SHO Munir Ahmed, both from Secretariat Police Station have been suspended on completion of the inquiry into the incident. The Police had batton charged the journalists of the capital when they protested after a suicide attack at Marriott Hotel and injured four journalists.. The situation emerged when the journalists objected to the discriminatory attitude of the police for not allowing them to gather information about the incident.

  PPP demands kidnapped journalist's early recovery
  Condemning the mysterious kidnapping of yet another journalist from Peshawar, the Pakistan People's Party has demanded immediate recovery and an investigation into the identity of kidnappers and bringing them to book in accordance with the law. Peshawar based Senior Journalist Sohail Qalandar mysteriously disappeared last month amid speculation that he was kidnapped by 'secret agencies'. He has remained untraced for the last 26 days even as local journalist community, national and international media bodies have been voicing concerns and holding protests demanding his recovery.

  Deadline set for recovery of journalist: Minister
  Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Muhammad Ali Durrani said deadline has been set for the political authorities of Khyber Agency and law-enforcing agencies to recover senior journalist Sohail Qalandar failing which crackdown would be launched against the kidnappers The Federal Minister stressed the need for a comprehensive and effective strategy for both the central and the provincial governments to provide security to common man and eliminate the menace of kidnapping for ranson from the country. He was speaking at the Peshawar Press Club here Monday.

  Action against cable operators demanded
  The cable operators are persistently telecasting English obscene movies during Muharram-ul-Haram in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Citizens demanded of the PEMRA to take prompt action against the cable operators regardless of their affiliation. Fine is not the only solution of the problems but stern action should be taken in this regard, they demanded.

  Pakistan German Friendship Association in collaboration with the Cultural Section of the German Embassy, Islamabad has arranged a fil show on Wednesday. According to the program, three selected documentaries will be screened Wednesday at 5:00 pm here at German Embassy auditorium.
