|
The Peshawar Press Club (PPC) Action Committee and the Khyber Union of Journalists (KhUJ) have demanded that law enforcement agencies ensure the safe recovery of Sohail Qalandar, resident editor of a daily newspaper, within two days, otherwise they would start a protest movement throughout the country on January 25, 2007. The PPC Action Committee held a meeting presided over by its chairman Shamim Shahid. The committee members condemned the kidnapping of Sohail and expressed concern over the government’s slow efforts towards recovering the missing people. The committee members said the law enforcement agencies were indifferent towards the issue and demanded that the provincial and federal governments take effective steps for recovering him.
