Role of media (Letter to Editor) |
|
Syeda Hiba Husain Mashhadi writes “this issue may seem a bit trivial and irrelevant today but in the long run it may prove its relevance. Societies have many facets and aspects; today a society is characterised by attributes which are highlighted by the brush of media on the canvass of the international audience and critics. The other day I happened to watch The Oprah show in which they featured a woman named Sauraya. She does volunteer work in Afghanistan and helps establish schools where around 700 girls and 940 boys received an education. She claims that she has been captured by the Taliban more than once, but never got afraid because she "couldn't let them intimidate her and keep her from the noble mission".
