  Newsmen protest colleague’s arrest
  Media persons staged demonstration against the arrest of senior journalist by police here on Sunday. Journalists gathered outside the Press Club to protest the arrest of Deputy Editor of Daily Jammu and Kashmir, Mr. Hashmi and shouted slogans against the arrest. They torched the copies of an urdu Daily publishing from Islamabad with which Hashmi had been associated as Bureau Chief. Hashmi is arrested by AJK police from Jammu and Kashmir newspaper’s office and handed over to Islamabad police. He was arrested on the complain of Islamabad based Urdu daily’s editor in chief and owner against alleged misappropriation ten of thousands of rupees of advertisement.

  Daily Express report on Indian Movie ‘Kabul Express’ malicious propaganda against Pakistan. Film projects a character of a Pakistani solider sent to Kabul on a mission, on return he was killed by Pakistani security forces. Another character an Afghan driver uses cruel language against Pakistani politicians.

  Roshan Mughal has been elected new President, Central Press Club Muzaffarabad. After tough contest Roshan Mughal and his opponent Wahid Iqbal bagged 12 votes each. As per press club constitution, presiding officer casted his vote, and Roshan Mughal won the contest.

  Condolence
  Anwer Pirzado passed away
Leading Sindhi poet and journalist Anwer Pirzado died of lung cancer at a hospital in Karachi on Sunday morning. He was 61. He was admitted to the Liaquat National Hospital about two months ago. He is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter. He was admired for his precious contributions to poetry and journalism.

  Quran Khawni for Columnist mother
  Prominent columnist Irfan Siddique’s mother passed away in Islamabad. Quran Khawni held in G-10 mosque for the departed soul. Prominent figures including former President of Pakistan Rafique Tarar and PML-N leader Raja Zafar ul Haq were also present.

  Well-known journalist Khalid Chudhary’s father has passed away in Rawalpindi. Prominent personalities of town have expressed grief and sorrow over the demise and condoled with the journalist. Khalid Chudhary is the Editor of Daily Hamdard Islamabad.
