	2006: a bloody year for journalists
	Four international media organizations in separate reports declared the year 2006 as one of the bloodiest years for journalists around the world with Iraq, Afghanistan and the Philippines the three most dangerous countries for media-persons.

	Pakistan Afghanistan to enhance media ties
	Pakistan and Afghanistan have decided to enhance cooperation in the field of media. In Kabul, Minister for Information Pakistan Muhammad Ali Durrani had a meeting with his counterpart Abdul Karim Khurram. Media cooperation will be focused in all fields. Both Ministers agreed to maximize cooperation in media. Both discussed areas to increase technical collaboration. Pakistan will provide training to Afghan media men. Durrani said that talks were very positive and now cooperation will increase in all fields. (Nawa-e-Waqt. Page-10)



	Islamabad, Kabul to promote media ties
	Pakistan and Afghanistan have decided to promote and strengthen their relations in media through exchange of delegations. This was agreed at a meeting between visiting Information and Broadcasting Minister Muhammad Ali Durrani and his Afghan counterpart, Abdul Karim Khuram, here at the Afghan Ministry for Information and Culture on Wednesday. Later, the Information Minister told newsmen that Pakistan will extend its full support to Afghanistan in the field of electronic media to increase the efficiency of Afghan electronic media and its news organisations. He said both the countries will continue their cooperation in various fields to ensure progress, prosperity and peace in the region.

	Begum Nawazish Ali crosses the Atlantic
	Begum Nawazish Ali’s reputation is no longer confined to those who view “her” and her antics in Pakistan: it has crossed the Atlantic, as a detailed report in the New York Times proves. Ali Saleem, the 28-year old who plays Begum Nawazish Ali has been described in a report filed from Karachi by the US daily’s correspondent as having “devised the perfect, if improbable, cover for breaking taboos in conservative, Muslim Pakistan”.

	APNS condoles death of advertising icon Gulamani
	Mir Shakeel-ur-Rehman President, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami, Sr. Vice-President Inquilab Matri APNS in a joint statement have expressed their profound grief over the sad demise of one of the pioneer of advertising industry, Mr. Sultan A.
