
The Lorenzo Natali Prize was established by the European Commission in 1992 to stress the importance of good governance, human rights and democracy for development. The 2006 Lorenzo Natali Prize applies to written and online press journalists who published an article on the defence of Human rights or democracy between 1st September 2005 and 31st December 2006 .
Articles can be submitted before 31 January 2007. Three Prizes will be awarded in each of the following five regions :
- Europe (EU Members States, states of central and eastern Europe and Mediterranean states)
- Africa
- The Arab World, Iran and Israel
- Asia and the Pacific
- Latin America and the Caribbean
