Punjab Union of Journalist (PUJ) Wednesday held a protest outside the Lahore Pres Club against the killing of a journalist, Muhammad Shoaib in Swat. The demonstration was led by PUJ President Shahzad Butt and Secretary General Naeem Hanif while it was attended by dozens of journalists to express their grief.

No plan to censor private TV channels, Sherry tells NA
 
Army to assist in blocking illegal FM stations: Sherry
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sherry Rehman told the National Assembly on Wednesday that the PPP government had no plans to censor the private television and FM channels. Replying to a question by MNA Surriya Asghar during the question hour, she said that the PPP believed in freedom of expression and that it had abolished black laws of the former dictatorial regime. Sherry said that there was need of a code of conduct for the media and the private TV and FM channels should form a regulatory body. “Under this body, self-regulatory regime would be formulated,” she added.

Symposium on photojournalism from 15th
 
Sindh Ministry of Information has chalked out a programme to train the photo journalists for working in current situation in a way that avoids physical dangers for them. The training will be initially imparted in the districts in the interior Sindh and will spread to other areas after some time.

World performing arts festival from today
