 Job Summary

This position is responsible for the daily function of finance and accounting for all Intermedia projects, including generation of monthly financial reports, treasury, budgeting, and filing of reports to the Executive Director, Intermedia Board Secretary and Intermedia donors. It also requires coordination and cooperation with the Executive Director to implement organizational and donor financial and accounting rules and procedures and to coordinate with field office(s) on finance and accounting issues. The closing date for applications is June 25, 2011.

 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilites include the following (others may be assigned):

 

 Financial Reporting

•  To prepare monthly financial and accounts reports using the “QuickBooks” software

•  To ensure that expense data is properly submitted, and that all expenses are reasonable and allocable, and conform to cost principles outlined in Intermedia Finance & Accounting Policy as well as those enumerated by donors

•  To ensure that the procurements and any equipment grants are properly ordered, tracked, distributed, and accounted for

•  To ensure that all project funds are secure, accounted for, and that all accounting activity undertaken conforms to local laws

•  To ensure compliance by all local tax laws

•  To prepare monthly analysis by project, by activities, by line item

•  To record the payment and maintain supporting document for audits and verification

•  To prepare other reports required by Executive Director and Board Secretary

 
 Budgeting/Proposal/Analysis

•  To prepare budget & budget narrative for both new projects and initiatives and project modification or extension

•  To do a monthly project analysis comparing budget and actual and providing key information on the reason for variance for management decisions

•  To do the analysis of historical data to support budget number

 

 Treasury Management

•  To oversee that appropriate petty cash record and monthly cash count is made and reconciliation

•  To prepare and document monthly salary slips and bank transfer request requiring signatures of the Board Secretary and/or the Managing Trustee of the Intermedia Board

 
 Qualification

•  Preferably an MBA degree and at least 3 years experience in finance and accounting

•  At least 2 years experience of international project, finance, and contract management

•  Knowledge of USAID, DFID and EU contract requirements

•  Strong analytical skills, ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently

•  Familiarity with Internet resources and Excel, Word, Outlook and QuickBooks software

•  Good English written and spoken skills
