Media Health Awards for Journalists Announced

 
Geo's Repoter Won Gold in TV Report while Ausaf's Reporter Won in Print
Government has fully committed for better health care in Pakistan, specifically Mothercare and Newborns along with capacity building of health reporters. This was said by Federal Minister for Health, Mir Eijaz Hussain Jakhrani, in a prestigious Health Award ceremony organized by Intermedia, in collaboration with Pakistan Initiative for Mother and Newborn (PAIMAN).

The main objective of this ‘2nd Safe Motherhood Award' is to encourage journalists in all over the country, who are highlighting Mothers and Newborns Issues (MNH), through stories, articles and documentaries in print and electronic media. More than two hundred print stories with twenty TV reports participated in the second National MNCH Awards.

In Electronic Media category, Akhtar Shaheen Rind, Geo's Reporter Karachi won Gold Medal with Silver Medal to Lina Maqsood of PTV Lahore. In Print Media Category, Tikka Khan Sani of Daily Ausaf Islamabad won Gold Medal with Silver Medal to Shehar Bano of The News Karachi.

Media practitioners, senior journalists, health correspondents, international health observers and civil society representatives attended this ceremony.
