A new project was launched in August 2010 aimed at strengthening the press clubs in Pakistan's Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) bordering Afghanistan through p romoting ICT (information and communications technology) use by media in one of the country's most under-developed regions.

FM stations from Kashmir & Islamabad join hands to promote peace on air

ISLAMABAD: FM stations from Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Islamabad gathered in the Pakistani federal capital in the first week of August 2010 for an orientation training workshop on engaging local communities through radio for community peacebuilding.

Producers and presenters from over 20 FM stations including seven from AJK and 13 from Islamabad were invited to the training being jointly conducted by Intermedia, a Pakistani media development organization that works on advocacy, research and training on media issues and Uks Research Center that works on raising the profile of women in media. The effort is supported by Search For Common Ground (SFCG).
